BOX SCORE

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Point Loma Nazarene–the top-ranked team in the GSAC and third-ranked team in the NAIA–proved to be a bit too much for Biola as the Sea Lions downed the Eagles 80-51 in a Golden State Athletic Conference game at Golden Gymnasium in San Diego on Thursday night.

Biola dropped to 6-16 on the season and 3-10 in conference play while Point Loma continued its impressive run with its 11th-straight win to move to 17-2 overall and 11-1 in GSAC.

The Eagles played well the first time the two teams met, holding the score close throughout the game before falling by 10. However, the Sea Lions came out with a big first half and never really let Biola get close. Point Loma shot over 65 percent in the first half, missing just eight shots in the period. The Sea Lions broke open an eight-point game with a 13-2 run to take a 41-22 lead to halftime.

In the second half, the Eagles closed the gap to nine with a 20-7 run to make it 54-45 with 9:56 to play. However, Point Loma followed that with a 26-0 run over the next seven minutes to blow the game open and cruise to the win.

Freshman Jenna French led the Eagles with 13 points but was the only Biola player in double-figures. Kerri Sutton-Wodarski scored 17 to lead Point Loma with Angela Manjarrez adding 13.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday (Feb. 9) as they travel to Chapman University for a non-conference game at 5:00 p.m.
