Biola's Exacts Revenge With 85-29 Shellacking of Hope

Andrew Schroeder scored a career-high 18 points in the victory
LA MIRADA, Calif. — Biola responded from its second-ever loss to Hope by throttling the Royals the second time around, winning 85-29 on Tuesday night in a GSAC game at Chase Gymnasium.

Danny Jones scored 19 points and Andrew Schroeder chipped in 18 as the Eagles improve to 13-9 overall and 5-7 in conference play with their third win in four games. The Royals continue their tough season, dropping to 1-18 and 1-11 in the GSAC.

The one victory in Hope's season came at Biola's expense as the Royals stunned the Eagles 59-55 in Fullerton. With that score fresh in their minds tonight, the Eagles came out firing and never left any doubt as to the outcome of this game.

Biola opened with a 14-0 run and held the Royals off the scoreboard until Michael Johnson's putback 7:10 into the contest. The Eagles followed with another 13-0 run before Hope would score again and took a 42-12 lead into the locker room.

Things didn't get much better for the Royals in the second half as Biola outscored them 22-3 over the first 10:30 of the period and cruised to the 56-point victory.

The 29 points allowed by Biola was the fewest since the 2004-05 season when the Eagles defeated Fontbonne University of Missouri 70-29 at home.

Biola has a short break to enjoy its big win, returning to the court on Thursday (Feb. 7) for a big GSAC road game at No. 13 Point Loma Nazarene. The Eagles would like to exact another measure of revenge against the Sea Lions as PLNU came back from an 11-point deficit with four minutes to play to beat Biola by five the first time around.
