Eagles Swept by NCAA II San Francisco State

GAME ONE BOX SCORE | GAME TWO BOX SCORE

SAN FRANCISCO — Biola's offense struggled against NCAA Division II San Francisco State as the Eagles were swept in a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 9-0 and 10-1 on Monday afternoon in San Francisco.

The Eagles fall to 3-3 on the season while the Gators improve to 8-8.

San Francisco State recorded 33 hits and scored 19 runs in the two games, pounding out four home runs including a pair of walk-off homeruns to end the games due to the eight-run mercy rule.

Biola had a tough time in the first game against SFSU's Vanessa Truan. After allowing a lead-off single to freshman Lauren Gandy in the first inning, Truan clamped down and allowed just two walks the rest of the way.

In game two, the Eagles started hitting the ball better, recording 11 hits in the game. However, they were only able to score once. That lone run came in the fifth inning as Erica Moyer hit a one-out single, then scored on a double by Sara Smith.

Four players collected two hits each in the nightcap including a Moyer, who was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Biola returns to action tomorrow, closing out its trip to the Bay area with another doubleheader against an NCAA Division II foe. This time, the Eagles face Notre Dame de Namur at 1:00 p.m. in Belmont, Calif.
