BOX SCORE

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Biola received 14 points for Megann Alberts while Richae Kater added 10 but it was not enough as the Eagles fell at No. 12 The Master's College, 80-52 in a GSAC game on Tuesday night at Bross Gymnasium in Santa Clarita.

Biola drops to 6-18 on the season and sit at 3-11 in GSAC play while the Master's, ranked No. 12 in the latest NAIA rankings improves to 17-6 and 9-5 in GSAC.

The Eagles really struggled from the field on the evening, shooting just 31 percent from the field including a 20 percent second-half. The Mustangs didn't fair that much better in the second half, though they managed to still hit 45 percent overall.

The Master's had two players lead the way as Annie Gillespie scored 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting while Jenna Reed scored 20 points off the bench before fouling out late in the contest.

The teams battled back and forth in the first half which saw seven ties and a lead change. However, The Master's broke a 21-21 tie with a 18-4 run which was started by seven-straight points from Reed. The Mustangs would take a 16-point lead to the locker room after shooing 50 percent from the field in the first half.

In the second, the Eagles got things going early and cut the lead to 11 at one point, but saw the Mustangs keep up their hot hand and extend their lead despite poor shooting from both sides. The Master's held on down the stretch thanks to made free throws and tough defense.

The Eagles hope to have better fortunes at home this weekend as they return to Chase Gymnasium for a GSAC game against No. 20 California Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
