LA MIRADA, Calif. — Biola picked up a convincing win in doubles while junior transfer Colin Snow picked up his first win as an Eagle, but Biola ultimately lost to Whittier, 6-3 in the season-opener for both teams on Friday at the Biola Tennis Center.

Colin Snow outlasted Whittier's Lance Franey 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in his match at No. 1 singles. It was Snow's first match as an Eagle and proved to be a good one. Joel Huibregtse picked up the Eagles other singles victory, edging Michael Leiderman 6-1 in the first game before defaulting due to injury.

At doubles, Tyler Jung and Huibregtse combined to down Whittier at No. 2 with a convincing 8-0 sweep. The other two doubles matches were close with Snow and Justin Mart falling 8-6 at No. 1 and Daniel Westman and Tyler Groenink putting up a big fight before falling 9-7 at No. 3.

Biola's next match is at Claremont College on Saturday, Feb. 9.
