LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior Megann Alberts scored 18 points while sophomore Jessilyn Conicelli added 14 to lead Biola to a 78-56 exhibition victory over the Melbourne Roos on Saturday night at Chase Gymnasium.

The Eagles (2-0) continued their strong play to open the season, recording their third exhibition victory to go along with two regular season wins. One of those came last week as they defeated No. 5 Lewis-Clark State to open the campaign.

Alberts had a strong night overall, recording 18 points and adding eight rebounds, four steals and an assist. Conicelli contributed 14 points, six rebounds four assists and three steals.

Once again, Biola opened the game strong, jumping out to a quick 17-6 lead just over six minutes in. The Roos quickly closed the gap to four with a 7-0 run and kept the score close through the next 10 minutes. The Eagles then broke the game open with a three-pointer by freshman Charisse Reese which made the score 37-27 and Biola took a 41-32 lead to the half.

In the second, the Eagles opened with a 10-3 run to go up 51-35 with 16:51 to play. They would stretch the lead to as many 24 late in the game before settling on the 22-point spread at the final buzzer.

The Roos were led by Alana Wallis, who scored 25 points off the bench thanks in large part to five three-pointers.

Junior Elise Paty also came off the bench strong, recording 11 points and hitting three from beyond the arc herself.

Biola had another strong shooting night, hitting 51.5 percent from the field. The Eagles added eight three pointers to the assault and recorded assists on 28 of their 34 field goals with Reese recording a game-high eight.

Biola returns to action next week, traveling to Utah for the Westminster College tournament. The Eagles will face host Westminster on Friday (Nov. 21) and take on Montana-Western on Saturday (Nov. 22).
