OAKLAND, Calif. --- Biola University opened the 2008-09 season with an impressive 67-53 win over Holy Names University in a non-conference game at Tobin Gymnasium in Oakland.
The Eagles improve to 1-0 while the Hawks fall to 0-4.
Sophomore Josh Miller scored 19 points and added 16 rebounds in his first game with Biola, adding three assists and a blocked shot to pace the Eagles. Junior Danny Campbell added 15 points in just 19 minutes of play.
Biola used a big first half to hold a 37-20 lead at halftime. The Eagles maintained the lead through out the second half, stretching the lead to as many as 22 points before a late run by Holy Names closed the gap to 14 at the buzzer.
Biola held a big edge on the glass, out-rebounding the Hawks 44-25.
Robert Christiansen led all scorers with 20 points for Holy Names.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday (Nov. 15), facing Dominican University in a non-conference game to close out their trip to the Bay area with a 5:30 p.m. game in San Rafeal.
