LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior Megann Alberts scored 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead Biola to a 77-54 exhibition win over Showtime Australia on Wednesday night at Chase Gymnasium.
It was another impressive performance by the Eagles who have rolled through three games so far this preseason, defeating NCAA Division II UC San Diego in an exhibition in October and knocking off NAIA No. 5 Lewis-Clark State on Friday in their first regular-season game.
Alberts led three Biola players in double-figures as freshman Emily Drews scored 13 points and junior Elise Paty added 10.
The Eagles got off to a strong start in the game using a 20-3 run over a seven minute stretch to take a 24-7 lead midway through the first half. Biola would continue to its hot shooting and held a 45-23 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Biola scored the first 10 points to take its biggest lead of the night at 53-25. The Australians, despite a better shooting percentage in the second, were unable to get close than 20 the rest of the way.
Center Sheridan Arredondo scored 19 points and added 11 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Serenea Benavente added 14 points thanks to four three-pointers and also had six rebounds.
Biola returns to action on Friday (Nov. 12), hosting Dominican University in its second regular season contest of the year. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff at Chase Gymnasium.
