BOX SCORE

EL CAJON, Calif. --- Junior Derek Friehe picked up another goal and was taken down in the box leading to a successful penalty kick conversion as Biola clinched a GSAC playoff berth by beating San Diego Christian College 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in El Cajon.

The Eagles improve to 8-6-2 on the season and to 3-5-2 in conference play while the Hawks fall to 2-14-0 overall and to 0-10-0 in GSAC.

Friehe, who scored the match-winning goal with 39 seconds left against Cal Baptist on Tuesday, headed home the second goal for the Eagles. He also was fouled in the box on what could have been another easy goal, but did earn a penalty kick for the team which senior Brandon Gonzalez drove home for the the first goal. Both tallies came within four minutes of each other, the PK in the 52nd minute and Friehe's header in the 56th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason recorded three saves to earn his first collegiate shutout.

The victory secures a playoff berth for Biola, which clinches seventh place in the GSAC with the win. The Eagles open up the GSAC playoffs on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 2:00 p.m. against the No. 2 seed Concordia University. Biola met Concordia in its last playoff appearance, falling 1-0 in overtime at Concordia in 2006.
