AZUSA, Calif. --- Despite holding No. 3 Azusa Pacific to its fourth-lowest scoring output of the season, Biola was unable to crack the Cougars' tough defense in a 3-0 loss in a GSAC women's soccer match on Saturday in Azusa.
The Eagles drop to 5-5-2 on the season, extending their winless streak to five matches. They also fall 1-4-2 in GSAC play. The Cougars improve to 11-1-0 on the season and remain perfect in conference action at 6-0-0.
Azusa Pacific picked up all three of its goals in the first half of the match, outshooting Biola 14-1 in the first 45 minutes.
Bridget Brotherton netted two goals within three minutes of each other to give the Cougars their first two goals. Her first come on a great pass into the box leading to a one-on-one which she finished to give APU a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Just 2:24 later, she dribbled another ball into the box and scored on a nifty shot to the near post.
A penalty kick in the 43rd minute would finish off the scoring in the match as Sarah Yoro converted the kick to make it 3-0 at the half.
Biola returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 21), hosting Westmont College in a GSAC match on Al Barbour Field.
