LA MIRADA, Calif. --- A quartet of players from The Master's College scored in double-figures as the No. 6-ranked Mustangs broke open a close game late to defeat Biola 77-63 in a GSAC game Tuesday night at Chase Gymnasium.

The Eagles (4-9 overall, 1-3 GSAC) were led by Megann Alberts, who scored 13 points and added nine rebounds on the night. Chelsea De Luca and Jessilyn Conicelli each added 11 for Biola.

The game was quite a bit closer than the final score would indicate as Biola came out firing against The Master's (11-2, 3-1 GSAC). Biola shot over 40 percent from the field in the first half and refused to let the Mustangs pull away--something The Master's has done against almost every team its has played this season. For example, the Eagles found themselves trailing by nine at 29-20 with just over seven minutes to play in the half, but mounted an impressive rally and pulled within one at 29-28 just three minutes later.

In the second half, the story was the same as Biola was able to close the gap but not quite able to take a lead. With 6:03 left in the game, Alberts hit a free throw to pull Biola to within two points at 60-58. At the four minute mark, Biola was still hanging around, trailing 63-60. But a quick 6-0 run over the next two minutes stretched the lead to nine and the Mustangs hit their free throws down the stretch to cruise to the victory.

All five of The Master's starters scored in double-figures led by the 18 points from freshman Erica Inge. Jenni Ritter added 15 while Amanda Durocher scored 14 points.

Biola held a 44-37 edge in rebounds, but it was the turnovers that proved costly as the Eagles committed 25 turnovers to the Mustangs' nine. The Master's converted those turnovers into 31 points.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday (Jan. 12) as they travel to Riverside for a GSAC game against No. 21 California Baptist University at 5:30 p.m.
