BOX SCORE
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Junior Megann Alberts scored 18 points and added nine rebounds, but it was not enough as Biola fell to No. 18 California Baptist 88-68 in a Golden State Athletic Conference game on Saturday night at Van Dyne Gymnasium in Riverside.
The Lancers (9-3, 3-2 GSAC) used a big first half to take a commanding lead thanks to a big half by Nicole Davis, who scored 19 of her 30 points in the first 20 minutes.
The Eagles (4-10, 1-4 GSAC) got off to a slow start, falling behind 10-2 just four minutes into the game. Biola closed the gap to five on a number of occasions, the last coming as a pair of free throws by Chelsea De Luca made the score 29-24 with 4:43 to go before halftime.
However, Cal Baptist rattled off a 13-0 over the next three minutes thanks to a three three-pointers–including a pair by Davis–and took a 45-28 lead to the locker room and never relinquished it.
Biola returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 15), heading west to Santa Barbara to take on Westmont College at 5:30 p.m.
