SALT LAKE CITY --- Despite strong defense and a few great scoring chances, the Biola University men's soccer team lost 1-0 to Westminster College (Utah) in the second day of the Westminster College Tournament Saturday.

The Eagles (1-2) have struggled offensively in the first two games at the tournament, failing to score a goal despite 31 total shots in the two matches. Westminster improves to 4-2 on the year.

The lone tally for the Griffins came in the 50th minute of the match as the Eagle defense made a pair of mistakes leading to an easy tap in by the Westminster attacker.

Overall, Biola held a 9-8 shot advantage in the match despite Westminster holding a big edge in possession. The Eagle defense played well and didn't allow much in the way of scoring chances.

Biola's best chance came late in the match. With just five minutes remaining, a corner kick found freshman defender Justin Walker at the top of the box. After a quick touch, Walker took a quick shot in space only to have it sail high.

Netminder Tyler Higgins made one save in the game for the Eagles, but faced just two shots on frame.

Biola closes out the tournament on Monday with a Labor Day match against Olivet Nazarene at Noon.
