LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The Biola University women's soccer match at Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday (Aug. 23) will now count as a regular season match and serve as the Eagles regular-season opener.
The match, which will kick off at 6:00 p.m. in Pomona, was originally scheduled as a scrimmage, but has since been changed to an official contest.
The Broncos are members of the NCAA Division II and become Biola's fourth NCAA oppenent this year. The Eagles also travel to play NCAA Division I Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 19 and Division II Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 4. They also host Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 8. This is in addition to scrimmages played at Division II UC San Diego and Cal State LA and Saturday's scrimmage at Division I Cal State Fullerton.
Biola is 6-5-4 all-time in season-opening matches, but has played to three ties to start the last three seasons.
The Eagles home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 1, as Biola hosts Oregon Tech at 7:00 p.m.
