Kesterson (left) and Nuckolls (right) have been named to the All-GSAC team

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Centerfielder Amerra Kesterson and second baseman Lindsay Nuckolls have been named to the 2007 All-Golden State Athletic Conference softball team as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

For Kesterson, a senior from Anaheim (Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa), it was the second straight year she had earned the honor. For the year, Kesterson had the third best batting average in the conference at .455 and was in the GSAC's top five in four other offensive categories. She led the team with 53 runs, scored 71 hits, eight triples and 106 total bases.

Kesterson really turned things on near the end of the season, hitting safely in 14 of her final 16 games. Over that stretch, she hit .547 (29-for-53) with 23 runs scored and 11 driven in.

Nuckolls, a senior from Yorba Linda (Rosary HS),  had a great year which was hampered by a pair of injuries. She wrapped up the regular season with a .518 batting average, scoring 27 runs and recording 27 RBIs. Nuckolls also was perfect on defense, not committing an error in 108 chances at second base.

Nuckolls missed three weeks in February after opening the season with a perfect 3-for-3 doubleheader against Cal State San Marcos. She rejoined the team in March and kept her average above .500 for the rest of the season. During Biola's Hawaii trip, Nuckolls had a 4-for-4 game against Chaminade where she had two doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Both players are now eligible for All-Region honors and from there could earn All-America honors.

Biola opens play in the 2007 NAIA Region II tournament on Tuesday (May 8) in Riverside, taking on host and No. 1 seed Cal Baptist at 10:00 a.m.
