Ball Completes All-American Hat Trick; Schmidt Earns Second Top Six Finish

Brian Ball was the National Runner-Up in the Steeplechase

FRESNO, Calif. --- Brian Ball completed the rare All-American hat trick with a second-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase while Kristin Schmidt earned her second All-American honor by finishing sixth in the 5,000 on Saturday afternoon at the 2007 NAIA Track and Field Championships in Fresno.

Ball put together his best performance of the year, crossing the line in 9:09.21, just behind the winner, David Cheromei of Virginia Intermont of finished in 9:08.90.

Ball's finish earned him All-American honors for the third time this year adding to his honors in cross country and indoor track and field.

Schmidt collected her second sixth place finish at the Championships, taking sixth in the 5,000 with a time of 17:50.62 On Friday, Schmidt took sixth in the 10,000 earning her double All-America honors.  

Amanda Stephens rounded out the Biola contingent with a 13th place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 11:46.37.

In addition, six other student-athletes were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for their work in the classroom. They were Michelle Cross, Danielle Gomes Janette Hill, Erin Hobson, Danielle Simpson and Amanda Stephens.
