LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's Lindsay Nuckolls earned second-team honors and Amerra Kesterson received honorable mention as the NAIA announced its 2007 Softball All-America squads on Wednesday.

 

Nuckolls, an infielder from Yorba Linda, posted a .518 batting average during an injury-plagued season with the Eagles, with 27 runs scored and 27 RBIs. She was also was perfect on defense, not committing an error in 108 chances at second base.

Nuckolls missed three weeks in February after opening the season with a perfect 3-for-3 doubleheader against Cal State San Marcos. She rejoined the team in March and kept her average above .500 for the rest of the season. However, a broken hand ended her season prematurely, causing her to miss the final 11 games of the year.

For Kesterson, it was her second consecutive All-America season after earning first-team honors in 2006. The centerfielder finished the season with a .467 batting average and was the team leader with 77 hits, 54 runs, eight triples, 112 total bases and was 9-for-10 in stolen base opportunities.

After a somewhat slow start, Kesterson caught fire near the end of the season, hitting safely in 17 of her final 19 games. Over that stretch, she batted .565 (35-for-62) with 24 runs scored and 11 RBIs including picking up Biola's lone hits in its season-ending loss to Point Loma Nazarene.

Biola finished the season with a record of 32-17 overall, reaching the NAIA Region II tournament for the third straight year and sixth time in the last eight seasons, and finished fourth in the Golden State Athletic Conference with a record of 12-12.
