LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University's baseball squad wrapped up the fifth seed in the NAIA Region II Tournament field and will open the playoffs against No. 2 seed California Baptist University on Friday, May 4.

The Eagles, who finished the regular season with a record of 28-22, travel to Riverside for the opening game of the six-team regional where they will play the Lancers, who are 34-16 and ranked No. 25 in the latest NAIA poll. The game will be played at Woodcrest Christian High School with first pitch slated for 7:00 p.m.

The remainder of the tournament will be held at Azusa Pacific University as the Cougars are the regional's top seed.

Biola split the season series with Cal Baptist, winning the first home-and-home series of the year, with the Lancers taking the two games the second time around.

The two teams have struggled at different times this season while looking unstoppable at other times. Biola matched a school record with 14 straight wins during the first half of the season, but is 10-17 since.

The Lancers opened the year on the ropes after winning their first nine games and found themselves at 15-11 at the midway point. However, they have won 19 of their last 25 games and finished in a tie for second in the GSAC.

In other tournament games on Friday, No. 1 Azusa Pacific hosts No. 6 seed Patten, which beat out San Diego Christian for the final spot in the field, while No. 3 seed Point Loma Nazarene takes on No. 4 seed Concordia. Both games begin at 3:00 p.m.

The winner of the tournament advances to the Super Regional where it hosts a best-of-three series with the Region I Champion with a trip to the NAIA World Series on the line.
