GAME ONE BOX SCORE | GAME TWO BOX SCORE

LAIE, Hawaii --- Amerra Kesterson had five hits in eight at-bats to lead Biola to a 3-1, 6-2 doubleheader sweep over BYU-Hawaii on Monday to open its Spring Break trip to Hawaii.

The Eagles improve to 24-8 overall and have now won 12 of their last 14 games. The Seasiders fall to 15-24 and have lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Biola benefited from three unearned runs to win the first game, but had to pull the game out in seventh. With the game tied at one, Morgan Facchini reached on an error to open the frame. That was followed by a pinch-hit double by Lindsay Nuckolls. Two outs later, Krista Johnson doubled home both runs.

Katie Gustaveson, who picked up the win to improve to 11-5 on the season, had to fight to earn victory as the Seasiders loaded the bases before coaxing a groundout to end the game. Gustaveson, who was named GSAC player of the week earlier in the day, allowed just one run on six hits while striking out five.

Biola struck first as Kesterson opened the game with a triple, then scored on a single by Sarah Jensen.

BYU-Hawaii struck back in the bottom of the second to tie the score.

In the fourth, the Eagles got back on top on an RBI-single by Kacie Lyding, then added another in the sixth. Both runs were scored by Keena Levert, who finished 3-for-7 on the day.

Biola put the game out of reach in the seventh with three runs. Jensen picked up her second RBI of the game with a double to score Brittany Bury. Nuckolls scored Kesterson with a beautiful suicide squeeze, then Levert plated Jensen with a single to cap the scoring.

Emily Gray picked up the win to improve to 9-3 on the season, allowing one run on six hits over six innings. Tatiana Garcia pitched the seventh, retiring the side in order after a lead off home run to Agesha Lightsy.

Biola continues its Hawaii trip with a doubleheader against Chaminade University on Tuesday (Apr. 10). The doubleheader is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. HST (7:30 PDT).
