LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola pitcher Katie Gustaveson has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference pitcher of the week for April 2-8, the league office announced on Monday.
Gustaveson, a senior from Lake View Terrace, Calif., made just one start this week, but it made it count as she tossed a four-hit shutout as Biola ended top-rnanked California Baptist's 33-game winning streak with a 2-0 win. She allowed just four singles--three of which didn't leave the infield--and struck out four to improve to 10-5 on the season with a 1.31 ERA.
This is the second time this season Gustaveson has earned the honor after throwing a no-hitter and a two-hitter in a pair of non conference games in March.
Biola opens a spring break trip to Hawaii with a game against BYU-Hawaii on Monday (Apr. 9) at 1:00 HST (4:00 PDT).
