LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Marisa Flores held on to win her match at No. 3 singles to give Biola a 5-4 win over The Master's College in a non-GSAC match on Tuesday afternoon at the Biola Tennis Complex.

The win snaps a seven-match losing streak for the Eagles, who improve to 4-14 on the season.

Biola won two of the three doubles matches to jump out to a quick 2-1 lead. Christy Humphrey and Molly McMullen combined for an 8-6 win over Christy Baughman and Mary Buck at No. 2 doubles. That was followed by an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles by Megan Shore and Marisa Flores.

The Eagles then won the next two singles matches with Christine Garner winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Marvy Beckman earning a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.

But the next three matches to finish went to the Master's. Buck downed McMullen 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Hannah Leake held on for a 6-2, 7-6 win over Ellen Monkemeier at No. 1 singles. That was followed by a 6-3, 6-2 win by Kaelyn Kraft over Christy Humphrey at No. 2 singles.

The match would be determined by the outcome at No. 3 singles where Flores was doing battle with Baughman. After Flores cruised to a 6-2 win in the first set, she had to hang on to pick up the 7-5 win in the second to seal the match.

The Master's had defeated Biola 6-3 in the GSAC counter between the two teams earlier this season.

Biola takes a much-needed break and returns to action on Tuesday (Apr. 17), hosting the University of La Verne in its final home match of the season. First serve is slated for 3:00 p.m.
