GAME ONE BOX SCORE | GAME TWO BOX SCORE
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Five runs in the first two innings of game one and a four-run first inning of game two proved to be too much as No. 4 Point Loma Nazarene swept No. 16 Biola by scores of 6-2 and 5-3 on Tuesday afternoon on Freedom Field.
The Eagles fall to 29-15 and 10-12 in GSAC play while the Sea Lions improve to 34-8 overall and 16-16 in conference.
Point Loma got on the board early in game one scoring two runs thanks to three Biola errors in the first inning. The Eagles got one back in the bottom of the inning as Keena Levert singled to plate Jacqie Hudson, who reached on a double.
But the Sea Lions scored three more in the second inning as another Biola error opened the door for two unearned runs, making it 5-1.
The Eagles scored another run in the bottom of the sixth as Sarah Jensen drove home Erin DaSilva to make it 5-2.
Point Loma's Paige Powell hit a home run to lead off the top of the seventh to make the score 6-2.
Kira Wommer (5-0) picked up the win in relief while Katie Gustaveson suffered a tough loss for Biola. Gustaveson allowed just one earned run on seven hits over five innings, but still fell to 14-8 on the season.
In game two, the Sea Lions scored four runs on four hits to take a quick 4-0 lead after just a half inning.
Biola got two runs back in the bottom of the third as Jensen singled home Brittany Bury, followed by Levert plating Amerra Kesterson with a sacrifice fly.
However, Point Loma got an insurance run in the top of the fifth to go up 5-2 as Amber Randal had a double to score Melissa Gomez with a two-out double.
In the bottom of that inning, the Eagles got another back as Hudson scored on an attempted double-steal.
Gustaveson again suffered the loss, falling to 14-9 while Tyler Lent earned the win to go to 13-3.
Sarah Jensen had a great day overall, going 5-for-7 on the afternoon with a pair of RBIs while Kesterson went 5-for-8 overall.
Today's doubleheader was the last home game of the season and marked the final home regular-season games for four seniors, Amerra Kesterson, Katie Gustaveson, Tatiana Garcia and Lindsay Nuckolls.
Biola wraps up the regular season with a GSAC doubleheader against Hope International on Saturday (Apr. 28) at 12 noon.
