RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Robert Lundy hit two home runs and drove in five to lead Cal Baptist University to a 17-0 win over No. 22 Biola University in a GSAC game Wednesday night at Woodcrest Christian High School in Riverside.
The Eagles fall to 19-10 overall and 13-9 in GSAC play with their fifth loss in their last six games while the Lancers improve to 21-13 and 11-12 in conference.
While Lundy provided the bulk of the offense, a group of five pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout of Biola. Kyle Thomas picked up the win, allowing just one hit and striking out eight over the first six innings.
Cal Baptist got on the board with five runs in the second inning capped by a two-run single by Jordan Monroe. The Lancers added three in the third with Aaron Seuss delivering a two-run single.
Lundy made it an even 10 with a two-run homer in the fourth, then capped the scoring with a three-run bomb to dead centerfield in the sixth.
Biola was shutout for the second straight game and has not scored over the last 17 innings. The last time the Eagles were shutout in back-to-back games came way back in 1989 when they were held scoreless during the NCCAA Playoffs.
Biola hosts the Lancers in the second game of a home-and-home series on Thursday (Mar. 29) with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
