Megann Alberts Named NAIA All-American

Megann Alberts led the GSAC in rebounds and was fifth in scoring

OLATHE, Kan. --- Sophomore forward Meghan Alberts was named an NAIA honorable mention All-American which was announced Tuesday before the NAIA National Championship game in Jackson, Tenn.

Alberts, a graduate of Colorado Springs Christian High School, averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds a game to lead the Eagles this season. She finished as the GSAC leader in rebounds and was fifth in scoring despite missing the final two games of the year to injury.

Alberts scored 20-plus points in 15 contests for Biola and scored 36 and 33 points in two games against Cal Baptist. Her 36 points were the most scored by an Eagle player since the mid-90s.

Vanguard's Jessica Richter was named the NAIA Player of the Year, making the second-straight season the Lions have had the top player in the NAIA. She is joined on the first team by her teammate Kelly Schmidt, the 2006 Player of the Year, as the only repeat selections from the 2006 first team.

Biola wrapped up the 2006-07 campaign with a 10-19 record and finished tied for ninth in the GSAC with a 6-14 record.
