JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Brian Ball earned NAIA All-American honors for the second time this year, placing fifth in the 5,000 on Saturday at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Eastern Tennessee State Mini-Dome in Johnson City, Tenn.

Ball, who earned All-American honors at the cross country championships in Novembers, recorded two personal bests in 24 hours. He qualified for the finals with a time of 15:01.52 on Friday afternoon, taking third in the third heat and fifth overall. Then, on Saturday afternoon, he cracked the 15-minute mark and placed fifth again with a time of 14:49.28.

It was the first time Ball earned All-American honors in indoor competition and his third top honor overall.

Joining Ball for the trip was Kristin Schmidt, who also competed in the 5,000 and placed eighth overall in a time of 18:28.00. Schmidt, who was in just her first season of college track, ran a tough race to place eighth out of 16 runners in the event.

Biola will now prepare to open the outdoor portion of the schedule with a quad-meet at Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday (Mar. 17).
