Biola Drops Pair at No. 1 Cal Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- No. 1-ranked Cal Baptist pounded out 16 hits and held Biola to just seven in a GSAC doublheader sweep on Saturday as the Lancers beat the Eagles 5-2 and 7-0 at Big League Dreams Sports Park in Riverside.

Cal Baptist improved to 19-1 on the season and 2-0 in GSAC play while Biola dropped to 10-6 and 0-4 in the conference.

The Lancers' Geanie Jenkins went 3-for-6 with a pair of home runs to lead the offense while Casandrah Carreon was 4-for-6 with a homer and a double.

Biola's Kacie Lyding went 3-for-6 to lead Biola's attach while Lindsay Nuckolls was 2-for-6 with a home run.

Cal Baptist got an early jump on the Eagles as Jenkins hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first in game one. Carreon added another on a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth.

Biola got two runs back in the top of the sixth as Nuckolls and Keena Lavert hit solo home runs to make it 3-2.

However, Carreon had an RBI-single and scored on a single by Erin Moore in the bottom of the sixth as the Eagles expanded the lead back to 5-2.

In game two, Cal Baptist got three quick runs on a three-run home-run in the bottom of the second by Sarah Hurlbut. Jenkins and Erin Moore then added homers of their own in the bottom of the fifth to increase the lead to 6-0.

The Eagles travel to Orange on Tuesday (Mar. 13) to play in the SunWest Tournament. They will take on Macalester College of Minnesota at 1:00 p.m. and SUNY Cortland at 3:30 p.m.
