LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola re-opened the men's tennis program with an impressive win over the University of La Verne back in February, but La Verne got its revenge with a 6-3 victory against Biola on Saturday in La Mirada.
The Eagles drop to 1-9 on the season with the loss.
Biola opened the match with a victory at No. 1 doubles as Joel Huibregtse and Tyler Jung edged Adrian Laygo and Richard Delgado 8-6.
However, the Leopards won the next two doubles matches--including a close 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles--to go up 2-1 heading to the singles matches.
In the singles La Verne won four of the six with Biola's two wins coming at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
At No. 1, Jung defeated Delgado 6-3, 6-1 while Greg Cox pulled out a win over Evan Mobley at No. 4s. Cox was leading 6-0, 4-0 before Mobley withdrew due to injury.
Biola's next match will not be until Tueday, Mar. 20, when the Eagles travel to face Hope International at 4:00 p.m. in Fullerton.
