LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior forward Danny Jones was Biola's lone representative on the 2006-07 All-Golden State Athletic Conference team announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jones, a graduate of Imperial High School, led the GSAC in rebounding, pulling down 254 boards for an average of 8.5 per contest. He also scored 14.8 points per game, finishing ninth in the GSAC in that category. Jones finished in the top 15 in the conference in blocks (21) and in field-goal percentage (56.1).
Jones, who scored 20-plus points on eight occasions, had a season-high 34 points to lead Biola to an overtime win at Vanguard University on Feb. 24, including scoring all nine of the Eagles points in the extra period. In that game, Jones was an impressive 14-of-17 from the field and added nine rebounds.
Jones, one of just two players to start all 30 games for Biola, had averaged just 2.5 and 5.8 points per game during his freshman and sophomore seasons, respectively.
Biola opens play in the GSAC tournament on Thursday (Mar. 1) as the No. 7 seed after finishing the regular season at 15-15 and 9-11 in conference. The Eagles face No. 2 seed San Diego Christian College at 7:30 p.m.
