Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University played a close match against one of the GSAC's best teams, but ultimately fell short in an 8-1 loss to Point Loma Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon at the Biola Tennis Complex in La Mirada.
The Eagles had their two-match winning-streak snapped and are now 2-3 overall and 0-2 in GSAC play. The Sea Lions improve to 2-2 and 1-0 in the conference
The match of the day for Biola came at No. 5 singles where Christine Garner battled back from a game down to Pt. Loma's Brittany Hall and to win in a tie-breaker, 5-7, 6-4, 11-9.
Another thriller came at No. 2 singles where Christy Humphrey dropped a close match to Leanne Miliken 7-5, 6-3.
Despite dropping the three doubles matches, Biola showed some marked improvement at No. 2 and No. 3. Megan Shore and Humphrey came back from 7-4 down to pull within one at 7-6 before falling to Hall and Miliken.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 27) for another GSAC match, this time taking on Westmont College at 4:00 p.m. at the Biola Tennis Complex.
