SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Peter Krumeich delivered a walk-off single with one out in the bottom of the ninth as The Master's College exacted a measure of revenge with a 9-8 come-from-behind win over Biola University on Thursday afternoon at Reese Field in Santa Clarita.

The Eagles, who scored a walk-off win against the Mustangs when the two met just yesterday, drop to 4-4 on the season and are 1-3 in the GSAC. The Master's improves to 5-6 and 2-2 in conference action.

Biola pounded out 12 hits on the afternoon and received a strong start from senior righthander Josh Baas, who allowed just four earned on eight hits over 6-1/3 innings. He also recorded seven strikeouts on the afternoon in his second start of the season.

But with the Eagles leading 8-6 going into the bottom of the eighth, The Master's was able to get to the Biola bullpen for one in the eighth and two in the ninth for the win.

The Eagles got on the board first in the top of the first inning with a sacrifice fly by senior Nick Dietzen. The Master's however, tied the score in the bottom of the frame on an RBI groundout by Caleb Mintz which scored Steve Shaver.

In the top of the second, Biola picked up two more runs on an RBI single by Kris Cook and an RBI groundout by Dietzen.

The Mustangs struck back with two in the bottom of the third, then took their first lead of the day on a two-run home run by Shaver in the bottom of the fifth.

Biola came right back in the top of the sixth as Dietzen again came up big, this time knocking in two with a double to center. After the Master's got one back in the bottom of the inning, Biola added two more in the top of the seventh thanks to an RBI double by Danny Morrow, who would later score on an error.

The Eagles would score their final run of the game in the top of the eighth, as Dietzen capped an impressive day with a solo shot to rightfield, giving Biola an 8-6 lead.

The Mustangs pulled the score to 8-7 with a run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double by Robert Short. Moments later, Josh Fienberg, who pinch ran for Short, was thrown out at home by Adam Yoder trying to score on a single, ending the threat.

After Biola went quietly in the top of the ninth, the Mustangs quick tied the score as Shaver hit his second homer of the game, this time a drive to right centerfield. Pete Goeman then walked, followed by a single by Caleb Mintz, which set up Krumeich's heroics to end the game.

Dietzen finished the day going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and a run scored. Catcher Daniel Bodemer, who started out the year in an 0-for-14 slump, was 3-for-4 today and has now recorded six hits in his last eight at bats.

Shaver was 3-for-5 on the day with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs for the Mustangs.

Biola returns home for a GSAC doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 17) against Vanguard University. Game one is set for 11:00 a.m.
