LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior right-fielder Scott Nelson scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the eighth inning, then drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth as Biola snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over The Master's College on Wednesday afternoon.

Biola improves to 4-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play while the Mustangs drop to 4-5 and 1-2 in the GSAC.

The Eagles got out to a quick lead in the game thanks to a two-run home run by sophomore Hawkins Gebbers in the bottom of the fourth.

The Master's answered back with three in the top of the fifth, though, as Peter Krumeich drove in two with a two-out double, then scored on a Biola error.

Junior Adam Yoder tied things up in the bottom of the frame, knocking in pinch runner Chris Forman with an RBI single.

The Mustangs took the lead back in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Steve Shaver. But the Eagles again struck back to tie the score in the bottom of the eighth as Nelson scored as The Master's turned a double play.

Junior Matt Love was plunked by a pitch to open the bottom of the ninth inning, then reached second on a wild pitch. After the Mustangs intentionally walked Yoder, junior Danny Morrow loaded the bases with an infield hit with one down, setting up Nelson's walk-off sac fly. 

Biola pounded out 13 hits in the game, but The Mustangs turned four double plays.

The Eagles got another great start by junior right-hander Jordan Litle, though he walked away without a decision. Litle allowed just two earned runs on four hits while striking out nine in 5-2/3 innings.

Senior Greg Matson picked up the win in relief after getting the final out of the ninth inning. The Eagles pitching staff, which had been struggling during the three-game losing streak, gave up just three earned runs on six hits. Freshmen Justin Rodriguez and Steven Alexander each pitched well in relief to help Biola earn the win.

Senior first baseman Nick Dietzen had a perfect afternoon, going 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Freshman catcher Daniel Bodemer also collected a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 on the day.

The Eagles and Mustangs do battle again on Thursday (Feb. 15) in a 2:00 p.m. game in Santa Clarita.
