BOX SCORE
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University shot a blistering 64-percent from the field in the second half en route to a 72-59 win over Biola on Saturday night at Van Dyne Gym in Riverside.
The loss drops the Eagles to 13-12 on the season and 7-8 in the GSAC race while the Lancers improve to 16-8 and 10-5 in conference action.
Mark Roussin poured in a game-high 30 points--23 in the second half--and added 13 rebounds to lead the Cal Baptist attach while Junior Denson added 10 points and 10 assists.
Biola junior forward Danny Jones scored a team-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Marlon King added 11 points off the bench for the Eagles.
The two teams were locked in a relatively tight game in the first few minutes of the second half as a layup by Jones pulled the Eagles to within three at 37-34 with 16:01 remaining. However, that was the closest Biola would get as Cal Baptist went on a 17-5 run spanning the next six minutes to put the game out of reach.
The Eagles hope to rebound as they hit the road for a huge conference game at Westmont College on Tuesday (Feb. 13). Biola is just one game behind the Warriors in the GSAC standings and could pull back into the playoff mix with a win.
