LA MIRADA, Calif. --- No. 11-ranked Pt. Loma Nazarene University used a strong, suffocating defense and turned the ball over just four times en route to a 73-49 win over Biola on Thursday night at Chase Gymnasium
The Eagles (9-12 overall, 5-8 GSAC) struggled with the Sea Lions' (15-5, 10-2 GSAC) full-court press and committed a season-high 31 turnovers which lead to 38 Pt. Loma points.
A trio of Biola players shared the high in points as Summer Matthews, Rochelle Rausch and Elise Paty scored 10 points each.
The Sea Lions were led by Kerra Sutton-Wodarski, who scored 16 points and had five assists. Meghan McGuire added 11 points with Erica Dotson contributing 10.
Biola managed to hang with Pt. Loma for the majority of the first half, trailing just 21-16 with just over four minutes to go. However, the Sea Lions closed the half on a short run to go to the locker room with a 30-20 lead.
The Eagles managed to keep the deficit to just nine early in the half, but Pt. Loma went on a 13-1 run over a five-minute span to put the game away.
Biola returns to action for its third game in five days with a non-conference matchup at Chapman University on Saturday (Feb. 3) at 5:00 p.m.
