LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola outside hitter Meghan Warkentin has been named a NAIA First-Team All-American for the second consecutive season as announced Monday by the NAIA National Office.
Warkentin, a junior from Visalia, Calif., led the team and ranked fourth in the GSAC with a 4.17 kills per game average, amassing 526 on the season. She added 201 digs (1.60/game), 59 block (0.49/game), 27 aces and 21 assists.
Warkentin posted strong numbers again this season despite playing with a leg injury during the middle of the season. She had eight matches with 20 or more kills, only Biola player to record 20 kills in a match this season.
Warkentin saved her best performance of the season for the opening round of the NAIA National Championships where she had 19 kills with just one error in 27 swings for a .667 attack percentage. During the Championships, Warkentin was named to the All-Tournament team after recording 81 kills, 14 blocks, 12 digs and three aces in 18 games.
After just two seasons with the Eagles, Warkentin ranks in the top 10 in numerous career offensive categories. She currently has the most kills and points per game and ranks seventh in total kills. Warkentin surpassed the 1,000 kill plateau for her career during Biola's upset win over No. 1 Fresno Pacific University on Oct. 31.
Biola wrapped up the season with a 32-8 record, its best since 1998. The Eagles reached the NAIA National Tournament for the seventh time in school history, reaching the semifinals and finishing in a tie for third place overall.
