LOS ANGELES --- Cal State Los Angeles used a big second half to pull away and knock off Biola University in a non-conference game on Saturday night at the Eagles Nest in Los Angeles.

The Eagles drop to 6-4 on the season and see their three-game winning-streak snapped. The Golden Eagles, who are part of the NCAA Division II, improve to 5-2.

Biola received 19 points and six rebounds from senior forward Danny Jones while sophomore forward Rocky Hampton added 17 points and six boards. Sophomore guard Marlon King poured in 18 points and added four rebounds for the Eagles, but that was about it for scoring by Biola.

Demetrius Hazel made a big contribution off the bench for Cal State LA, scoring 24 points in 20 minutes thanks to six three-pointers. Vincent Camper added 18 points and six assists for the Golden Eagles.

The two teams battled back-and-forth throughout the majority of the first half until Cal State LA used an 8-0 run to take a 33-26 lead with 2:21 remaining before halftime. Biola closed the gap back to two points at 39-37 in the early moments of the second half. But the Golden Eagles countered with an 11-2 run to take a commanding lead and cruised to the easy win.

Cal State LA's 82 points were the most allowed by the Eagles this season. Biola leads the NAIA in scoring defense, allowing just 55.8 points per game including tonight's contest. The Eagles had also been holding their opponents to under 35 percent shooting coming into the game, but allowed the Golden Eagles to hit 54.7 percent from the field including 57.7 in the second half.

Biola plays its final game before the Christmas break, hosting NCAA Division II Wayne State College (Neb.) on Monday (Dec. 17) at 7:00 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
