BOX SCORE
FULLERTON, Calif. --- Freshman Luke Duperron scored a team-high 17 points, but it wasn't enough as NCAA Division I Cal State Fullerton used a big second half to defeat Biola in an exhibition contest on Tuesday night at Titan Gym.
Cal State Fullerton was led by guard Josh Akognon, a transfer from Washington State University, who scored 21 points. Frank Robinson added 14 points for the Titans.
For Biola, Danny Jones and Rocky Hampton added nine points each with Jones pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Fullerton led by only four points at the half, 35-31, but opened the second half with a 21-8 surge over the first eight minutes for a comfortable 17-point lead at 56-39. The Titans never trailed in the game after a 4-0 start but saw a 14-point first-half lead dwindle to two on a pair of occasions, the last at 35-33 after Biola's Andrew Schroeder scored the first basket of the second half.
The Eagles play one more preseason game before their first real contest, hosting Claremont College in a scrimmage on Saturday (Nov. 19) at 2:00 p.m. in Chase Gymnasium.
