Eagles Get First Win; Beat Holy Names 74-60

Summer Matthews had 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles

OAKLAND, Calif. --- Junior Megann Alberts scored 19 points and added 17 rebounds and Summer Matthews had 14 points and 15 boards as Biola recorded its first victory of the year in a 74-60 win over Holy Names University in the consolation game of the HNU Classic on Saturday night.

The Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season while dropping the Cougars to 0-2.

Alberts had a strong night, going 6-for-14 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free throw line to lead Biola. Matthews from 5-for-8 from the field with seven of her 15 rebounds of the offensive variety.

The Eagles shot well from the field, hitting 43 percent while holding Holy Names to just 25 percent shooting.

Elise Paty again scored in double-digits, recording 11 points for the Eagles thanks to hitting three of four shots from three-point range.

Biola's next games come as part of the Bethel College Tournament in McKenzie, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 9-10).
