EL CAJON, Calif. --- Four of five starters scored in double-digits to lead Biola University to a 79-42 win over San Diego Christian College in the GSAC opener for both schools Wednesday night at the Ryan Athletic Center.
The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season and are 1-0 in conference play while the Hawks fall to 2-3 and 0-1 in GSAC.
Freshman Luke Duperron continued his strong start to his collegiate career with a game-high 16 points. Biola's inside game was working well with sophomore Rocky Hampton scoring 14 points and senior Danny Jones adding 12.
The Eagles got out to a quick lead at 14-4 and never looked back, heading into halftime with a 37-24 advantage.
In the second half, Biola turned up the defense, holding the Hawks to just over 20 percent shooting and allowing just five field goals to the home side. Biola hit 50 percent of its shots in the second half, outscoring SDCC 42-18 in the half to win.
Biola will enjoy a short Thanksgiving break this week before returning to action on Saturday (Nov. 24), traveling to the University of Redlands for a non-conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
