KENOSHA, Wisc. --- The Biola University women's cross country team placed 11th overall while senior Brian Ball finished seventh overall to earn NAIA All-American honors for the second-straight season at the 2007 NAIA National Championships at the Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc., on Saturday morning.

Sophomore Kristin Schmidt joined Ball in earning NAIA All-American honors with an 11th place finish overall. She ran the 5k course in 18:06.3 in the group of 268 runners in the women's race.

The women finished 11th overall–an impressive turn around form the team that didn't make it out of the regional in 2006. The Eagles scored 341 points and were just seven points behind Northwestern (Iowa) for 10th place.

Overall, Simon Fraser University took top honors on the women's side with three runners in the top 15, scoring just 99 points. Azusa Pacific's Jaime Canterbury and Jacky Kipwambok finished first and second, respectively.

Schmidt was Biola's top finisher with freshman Katie Thede finishing in 65th with a time of 18:52.1. Senior Anna Thibodo placed 115th with a time of 19:17.1 and was followed closely by freshman Sarah Brooks in 117th (19:17.4). Freshman Connie Andersen rounded out the scoring five for the Eagles, crossing in 19:36.9, good enough for 152nd overall.

Biola senior Amanda Stephens (19:45.3 – 167th) and freshman Erika Perez (20:41.7 – 231st) rounded out the Eagle contingent.

Senior Brian Ball, who was running as an individual in the men's race, earned NAIA All-American honors for the second straight season with a seventh place overall finish. He crossed the finish line of the 8k race in 24:53.5 in the men's race featuring 258 runners.

Azusa Pacific University's Aron Rono took top individual honors, winning the race with a time of 23:52.1. Malone College (Ohio) won the men's title, placing all five scoring runners in the top 25 and scoring just 59 points.
