Biola Downs Rocky Mountain College 68-65 to Open Season

HELENA, Mont. --- Biola's men's basketball team trailed throughout the majority of the game, but played tough defense and sunk clutch free throws down the stretch to knock off Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) 68-65 in its season opener on Friday night.

The Eagles are now 1-0 on the season while handing the Bears their first loss of the season, dropping them to 5-1. The game was the first game of the 2007 Mountain West Classic hosted by Carroll College of Montana.

Sophomore Rocky Hampton scored 16 points and added 16 rebounds while freshman Luke Duperron posted 16 points in his first collegiate game.

Sophomore Danny Campbell added 12 points for Biola with senior forward Danny Jones recording a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

The Eagles trailed 39-32 at the half and through most of the second half before a late run gave them a lead they would not relinquish.

Rocky Mountain, which defeated No. 8 Azusa Pacific 105-84 win in their last game, was led by the 20 points of Nate Miller. 

Biola takes on host Carroll College (Montana) at 8:00 p.m. MT on Saturday (Nov. 17) in the final game of the classic.
