BOX SCORE
IRVINE, Calif. --- Trina McGee scored a pair of goals and added an assist as No. 11 Concordia University downed Biola 4-0 in a GSAC match in Irvine on Saturday.
The loss dropped Biola to 2-6-2 on the season and to 0-3-2 in GSAC play while Concordia improved to 10-2-0 and 4-1-0 in conference.
Both teams played well through the majority of the first half, battling relatively evenly for the first 40 minutes. However, Concordia turned up the heat just before halftime and was able to score first.
The Concordia attackers drew an early penalty kick after a Biola defender committed a foul in the box. However, the spot kick hit the post and was temporarily cleared by Biola. Concordia quickly came back, though and McGee got her first goal of the night off a quick shot from 10 yards out.
After the half, Concordia erupted for three more goals with Brianne Wahrenbrock scoring from 10 yards out just two minutes into the second half.
McGee added her second after heading in a corner kick from Zahira Montanez in the 54th minute.
Concordia sealed the deal with a goal by Shayla Collie in the 74th minute as she dribbled around the keeper and tapped in a close shot after receiving a great pass from McGee.
Biola continues to struggle offensively, scoring just one goal in the last four games.
The Eagles return home for a non-conference matchup against NCAA Division II Cal State San Bernardino on Monday (Oct. 8) on Al Barbour Field at 7:00 p.m.
