SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Taylor Callan scored two early goals to lead Westmont College to a 3-1 win over Biola University in a GSAC match on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles drop to 3-9-2 overall and fall to 1-5-2 in GSAC play while the Warriors improve to 8-5-1 and 5-2-1 in the conference.
Westmont got on the board early with a goal in the 19th minute off the foot of Callan. She took a quick shot from about 35 yards out which skipped along the ground and past the diving Biola netminder.
Just seven minutes later, Callan would add her second, curling a corner kick into the net.
Biola answered back in the 40th minute as sophomore Hollie Affentranger touched the ball past the Westmont keeper off a baseline pass from Kahlie Reinecke.
The goal pulled the Eagles to within one at 2-1, but the Warriors would quickly go up again by two as Jameisha Washington scored off a scramble in front of the net.
Both teams clamped down defensively in the second half with the Eagles attempting five shots–four of which were on frame–but were unable to come up with any more goals.
The Eagles return to action on Friday (Oct. 16) with a trip up to the Central Valley for a non-conference match against NCAA Division I Cal State Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m.
