LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University's post combination of Danny Jones and Rocky Hampton combined for 31 points to lead the Eagles to a 66-60 victory over California Baptist University in a Golden State Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday night at La Mirada. 
Hampton led the way with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots for Biola, which improved to 9-6 overall and moved back into the hunt of the conference race at 3-2. The Lancers fall to 9-5 on the season and are also at 3-2 in the GSAC.
Jones scored 15 points for the Eagles, who also received 13 points from senior guard Solomon Mercado. 
Biola opened the game with a 13-0 run and never trailed in the contest, though Cal Baptist did make it interesting at the end. 
With 1:02 remaining, Cal Baptist closed to gap to four as Thomas Taylor hit runner in the lane and was fouled. However, he missed the ensuing free throw shot and the Eagles held on for the win.
Thanks to the play of the Biola post players, the Eagles held a 36-16 edge in the paint and out-rebounded the Lancers 42-29 in the game. Hampton pulled down 11 boards to lead Biola with Jones recording nine rebounds.
Cesar Menjivar and Thomas Taylor each scored 12 points off the bench to lead Cal Baptist with forward Mark Roussin adding 11 points.
Biola hosts GSAC rival Westmont College on Tuesday (Jan. 9) at 7:30 p.m. in Chase Gymnasium.
