Biola Proves to be Royal Pain to Hope

Danny Jones led the way with 18 points and 11 boards

BOX SCORE

FULLERTON, Calif. --- For the second time this season, Biola University scored a blowout win over Hope International University, this time winning 77-50 Tuesday night at Darling Pavilion in Fullerton.

It was the second straight victory for the Eagles, who improve to 12-10 on the season and 6-6 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. The Royals drop to 4-18 and 2-10 in GSAC action.

Junior forward Danny Jones scored 18 points and added 11 rebounds to lead the way for Biola. Senior guard Matt Emadi added 12 points and the Eagles' lone shot block.

Biola took control of the game early thanks to a 24-4 run to start off the game. Hope didn't hit double-digits until an Aron Cline layup with 5:14 left in the first half made it 29-10. The Eagles went to the locker room up 40-20 and stretched the lead up to 29 before settling for the 77-50 victory.

Biola has had little trouble with Hope this season, scoring a 95-46 win over the Royals in La Mirada earlier this year.

The Eagles shot nearly 60-percent in the first half (13-for-22) and finished the game hitting 51-percent of their shots from the field. Hope, on the other hand, shot just under 30-percent in the game.

Biola hosts Point Loma Nazarene University in a GSAC contest at home on Thursday (Feb. 1) with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
