EL CAJON, Calif. --- Biola University snapped a four-game losing streak with an impressive 65-53 win over San Diego Christian College Saturday night in El Cajon.
The Eagles kicked off the second half of the Golden State Athletic Conference schedule with the victory and improve to 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the GSAC. San Diego Christian drops to 4-14 and remains winless at 0-11 in conference action.
Sophomore center Megann Alberts led the way for Biola with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Elise Paty added 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range.
After a relatively close first half, the teams went into the locker room with the Eagles leading 29-20. In the second half, Biola blew the game open with a 15-2 run over a four minute stretch culminating in a 50-27 Eagle advantage.
San Diego Christian would end the game on a 14-2 run but it would be too little too late.
Biola's bench, which hasn't contributed any points in two games this year, scored 27 points, led by Paty's 15. Freshman guard Chelsea DeLuca added eight points in 13 minutes.
The Eagles now look to avenge an early season loss to Hope International on Tuesday (Jan. 30) in Fullerton.
