SPRINT RESULTS | DISTANCE RESULTS
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- In the final dual meet of the season, the Biola University women's swim team was in top form, sweeping Cal State East Bay on Saturday afternoon in La Mirada.
The meet was seperated into two different competitions, with the Eagles winning the distance events by a 114-43 count and downing East Bay 109-63 in the sprint events. Overall, Biola won 14 of the 19 events contested on the day.
Lindsey Hagensen earned a pair of NAIA qualifing times, winning the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:05.14 and taking the second in the 100 free at 57.84.
Scoring another big qualifying time was Elena Fernandez, earning the spot with a 2:43.10 finish in the 200 butterfly.
Other swimmers to qualify for the NAIA meet included Megan DeForest in the 200 IM (2:21.90), Jessica Nelson in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.62), and Brittany Sharpe in the 500 free (5:39.60).
Leigh Pearce took home top honors in four events on the day, winning the 100 fly (1:02.60), 200 fly (2:16.47), 100 back (1:05.78) and the 200 back (2:26.27).
Shannon Lawrence took home first place in the 50 and 100 freestyle events during the afternoon portion of swimming, winning in :25.53 and :56.25, respectively.
The Eagles now prepare for the NAIA Championships with a stop off at the Pacific Coast Swimming Conference finals Feb. 7-10 in Long Beach, Calif. Biola will join 14 other schools at the Belmont Plaza Pool.
