LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Junior Ryan Parker managed to score a brilliant goal with just 34 seconds remaining to give Biola a stunning 1-0 victory over No. 16-ranked Concordia University Saturday night.

Parker's shot appeared to be a desperation cross with time expiring, but the ball never curled and instead found it's way over the head of the Concordia netminder to give Biola the last-minute victory.

Biola improves to 5-2-0 overall with the victory and moves to 1-1-0 in GSAC play. Concordia drops to 6-3-0 and 1-1-0 in conference.

The two sides battled at midfield for much of the night and with Biola getting the better of play in the first half.

The home squad recorded nine of its 16 shots in the first period and had a number of brilliant opportunites erased by the great play of Concordia's goalie Mike Borst.

Concordia actually had the best scoring opportunity in the first 45 minutes as Conan Hawkins received a nice cross but just touched it over the crossbar.

Borst made four saves--all of them of the brilliant variety. He made two diving stops on point-blank shots by Biola forwards in a 45-second span in the first half and made a great save on a short blast in the second.

In the second half, both sides exchanged decent attempts at scoring though Concordia out-shot Biola by a 9-7 count.

Biola goalkeeper Ryan George was forced to make just one save, that coming on a scramble in the box in the 57th minute. In the end, he earned his third cleansheet of the season.

Biola hits the road for a match at GSAC rival San Diego Christian College on Tuesday (Oct. 3) at 3:00 p.m.
