REDLANDS, Calif. --- The Biola women's cross country team took top team honors while the Eagle men placed eighth at the Redlands Invitational Saturday held on the campus of the University of Redlands.

Biola's women's squad placed three runners in the top 10 and six in the top 20 to finish with 45 points in the event.

Senior Brittany Gomes finished first overall and broke the meet's 6k record with a time of 22:35. Junior Anna Thibido crossed the line in 23:47, good enough for fourth place overall.

Junior Amanda Stephens rounded out the top three of Biola with a ninth place finish in 24:09.

The remaining Eagles finished within a minute of each other as Kristin Schmidt finished in 24:38 (14th), Danielle Simpson in 24:58 (19th) and Sara Bair in 25:00 (20th).

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took second place with 62 team points with GSAC foe Fresno Pacific finishing third with 78.

On the men's side, sophomore Ronnie Toth led the way, placing 37th overall in a time of 28:11 with fellow sophomore Jared Bird right on his heels in 48th place at 28:39.

Freshman Kyle McNulty and Mike Morin continue to improve, placing 56th (29:02) and 72nd (29:49), respectively, in the meet.

Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles was freshman Robert Stevenson, who came in 102nd, but was running in his first-ever cross country race.

Cal Poly Pomona finished first overall with 34 points followed closely by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with 42. Biola finished with 219 points.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7, when they race at the Vanguard Invitational at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.
