Irvine, Calif. - The Biola volleyball team rebounded from a heart-breaking loss Friday night with a dominating 30-18, 30-16, 30-13 sweep over Holy Names University Saturday morning at the Concordia University Labor Day Festival in Irvine.
The Eagles, who improve to 5-2 on the season with the victory, were led by the 11 kills of sophomores Kristen Peterson and Kelsey Mitchell. Mitchell now has recorded double-digit kills in all seven of Biola's matches.
Biola swung well on the day, finishing with a respectable .297 hitting percentage while holding Holy Names to -.032.
The Eagles also posted a season-best 15 service aces including four by junior Caroline Rutenbar.
It was the second time in as many weeks Biola beat the Cougars, winning via the sweep last week at the Fresno Pacific Invitational.
Biola wraps up the tournament with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Lewis-Clark State in a match played at Vanguard University.
