LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior Natalie Thornton scored twice and fellow senior Jenni Loya added a goal and an assist to lead the No. 25 Biola women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Simpson College of Iowa on Friday.

With the victory, the Eagles remain undefeated at 3-0-1 while Simpson drops to 3-2-0 on the season.

Thornton got things going in the right direction for Biola with a quick finish off a scramble in the box in the 17th minute. Junior Laurelle Robertson sent a great cross into the box where Thornton found it and sent it home in the middle of three Simpson defenders.

Freshman Bethany Wikfors scored her second goal of the season with a blast in the 39th minute to extend the lead to 2-0 at the half.

The two teams played relatively evenly for the next 40 minutes. Biola added a pair of insurance goals late in the contest to seal the deal.

Thornton did the easy work as she picked up her second goal of the night with a tap-in right in front of the net in the 87th minute. The hard part was done by Loya, who drove down the nearside, moved around a defender in the corner and crossed a perfect ball which landed right at Thornton's feet.

Loya then added her team-best third goal of the year three minutes later as she lobbed a ball from a nearly impossible angle over the Simpson's keeper and into the net.

Senior netminder Keri Schulz was spectacular in goal, making six saves to earn her second cleansheet of the year. Schulz helped preserve the 2-0 lead in the second half with a pair of diving stops on two different attacks by Simpson in the span of a minute.

The four goals scored by the Eagles were the most since a 5-0 win over Auburn-Montgomery in the 2004 NAIA National Championships where Biola placed third.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday (Sept. 16) when they travel to Cal State San Marcos for a non-conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
